About
Italian Independent artist and designer, Vincenzo Savastano graduated in Sculpture and Plastic Disciplines at the Art Institute of Florence / Italy, after his studies, he began his career in creative direction and continued with the foundation of his personal Art and Design studio in Istanbul in 2014. He collaborated with the English Design Group Habitat, invited twice to present his Design Collections at the Turkey Design Week and at the Design Fair HOMI in an area dedicated to Avant-garde Designers in Milan. He designs interiors and furniture for people and companies looking for a sophisticated and exclusive taste in a contemporary Italian style .
His Art Project, the limited edition sculpture collection called Metropolis, is inspired by brutalism, metropolitan architecture and urban elements. Observation through his long life experience in Istanbul has led the Italian artist to ask himself many questions about living in a large urban center, such as the dynamics created by the speculative and economic building frenzy that makes it very easy to forget what human beings really need.
This collection of sculptures represents the vision of a human being raised around the culture of humanism who is confronted with some opposing realities, sometimes not very sensitive to the needs of individuals. Thus he documents for posterity with a series of sculptures, the many missed opportunities in the construction process of new cities, the lack of environmental awareness and his personal opinion on the oppressive aspects of this process.

“Concrete as the predominant material, the skylines now designed by towers and skylights, the almost total absence of green spaces for the mental regeneration of man, increasingly create an environment hostile to life. The actions and choices of humans that impact on the territories, permanently marking a wound that sometimes struggles to heal. Planning and the fundamental role of architecture, as a discipline at the service of the community in its past, lose their meaning and highest value, in the creation of building monstrosities, aimed only at momentary profit and pure economic realization. Concrete and steel represent the era in which we live.
The responsibilities and consequences of these wicked actions will inevitably fall on the new generations and on all our children.
The moment of change begins when an entire society is aware of its mistakes or unhealthy choices and makes every effort to ensure that they are never repeated again. Self-criticism makes us sensitive and empathetic human beings, and we must all feel like good custodians of territories, cities, countrysides, forests, meadows, rivers, lakes, mountains, seas and above all of other living beings, animals that like us deserve to live peacefully in their habitat without human intrusions or violence, because this extraordinary world does not belong to us, we have only borrowed it to hand it over to the future and to new generations.”

There are many programs and themes that the artist will draw on in the coming years, the aspect of human habits, social improvement and the influences of trauma on daily choices, are the main themes that will influence his artistic research work.
All this to open the spotlight on points and themes that are still not sufficiently resolved or taken into consideration with due importance by societies and individuals. The macro theme of the megalopolises of the world that will host half of the human population by 2030 will be a topic always treated in his future artworks, the psychological aspects that still influence us if not recognized, identified and healed or improved, still make the experience of communities difficult for spiritual and human improvement and the natural process of evolution of each of us.
These are the main themes that through the use of different sculptural techniques and materials, will take shape along the artistic path already undertaken.
